Traveling and Visiting Information

Whether you are a parent of a prospective or current student, visiting Pullman can offer you the chance to share in the personal, hometown feel of the university campus and surrounding Pullman community. You can tour the campus, shop in the Student Book Store, view the grizzlies in the Bear Research and Conservation Program, share in exciting Cougar athletics, eat a bowl of lentil chili at the Lentil festival, or roller blade, bike or jog along the 7 mile Moscow-Pullman Chipman trail.

Pullman is easily accessible by car, bus, and plane. Flights can be taken directly into the Pullman-Moscow airport, or into the Spokane airport. Those flying into Spokane have the options of renting a car or using the Spokane - Pullman shuttle.

Remember to stop in at the WSU Visitor Center for a cup of coffee, maps, parking information & permits, and restrooms. They have up-to-date information on campus and community events.

Parents of Prospective Students

Many parents attend the summer Alive! program through New Student Orientation. This exciting and informative program offers parents and students separate programs to learn many of the helpful details to ensure a successful college experience. Learn about housing & financial aid; experience college life while staying in a university residence hall and eating in a dining hall; discover valuable resources to assist you in your student's transition to the university; and meet other parents.

Daily campus tours are available through the Office of Admissions if you and your prospective student prefer a more informal visit. Comfortable and reasonably priced accommodations are available through the Compton Union Building hotel or in one of our local hotel /motels. You can experience the dining halls by purchasing a meal card at the Housing & Dining Financial Services office in Streit-Perham. Check in with the front desk of a residence hall for a tour of the hall.

Parents of Current Students

Many parents visit for athletic or school events. Parents have many housing options on these occasions. Students in the residence halls can host their parents in the hall if they have roommate and hall director approval.

Dad's Weekend in the fall and Mom's Weekend in the spring are two traditions that Cougar parents look forward to each year. It is an excellent opportunity to visit the campus, socialize with your student and other parents, and attend weekend events.
