Room Furnishings

What furniture comes with the room?
All rooms have closets, twin beds, small chests of drawers, desks, and lamps.

How long are the bed frames?
The bed frames are 84" L by 40" W.

What size sheets should I buy for my bed?

How much space is under the bed?
In the double rooms, 10". In the single rooms, some of the rooms have 2 drawers under the bed creating storage space.

Can I use a bed riser in my room to raise the bed off the floor to gain storage space under the bed?
Yes.

What are the dimensions of the closets?
The closets are 40" W by 83" H by 24" deep.

What are the dimensions of the desks?
47½" W by 23¾" deep. Each desk has 4 drawers.

There are an average of four outlets in each room.

Can I bring my own furniture and store the University furniture somewhere else in the hall?
You may bring your own furniture, but we do ask that University furniture remain in your room.

Is my room carpeted?
No.

No, except as part of the desk.

Room dimensions

What are the dimensions of my room?
Stimson has a number of different room types varying in shape, size, and whether they were designed for one person or two. Also, rooms with multiple widths or lengths have a "jog" in the wall. Here is a listing of the room types and dimensions. The measurements were taken from an architectural program and may be off by a couple of inches. Windows are approximately 3’1" W by 3’6" H.

Accessibility Issues

Are there any rooms in this hall for people with disabilities?
Yes. Rooms 104, 108, 150, 151, 152, and 153 are wheelchair accessible, with accessible bathrooms. Room 313B is hearing-impaired accessible.

What public facilities in this hall are accessible?
Stimson has public restrooms and a campus phone in the lobby for general use.

Hall Facilities and Amenities

What amenities, such as pool tables, weight rooms, etc., does Stimson Hall have?
Here in Stimson we have a pool table, one weight room, a kitchenette, a ping pong table and a TV lounge with a big screen TV.

Where can I do my laundry? How much do the washers and dryers cost?
We have our own laundry room, 5 washing machines and 6 dryers. These cost our residents nothing, as the price is included in the Hall dues.

How are the bathrooms arranged in Stimson Hall?
Most of our rooms are set up as suites. Many other double rooms share a bathroom between them. In the corner rooms, we have what are called "clusters." These clusters allow seven people to live in four different rooms, all sharing one bathroom. The clusters have typically been the most sought after rooms.

Are there study lounges in Stimson Hall?
We do have two study lounges in the hall. Overall the hall is fairly quiet, so studying is a priority of students in Stimson.

Southside Café.

Where do residents in Stimson Hall store their bicycles?
In room 49, second door on the right after entering the building from the loading dock area, Stimson has a room in which 20-30 bikes can be stored. See the hall staff for more info.
