Room Furnishings

What furniture comes with the room?
All rooms have closets, twin beds, small chests of drawers, desks, a free-standing set of shelves, and lamps.

How long are the bed frames?
The bed frames are 83½"L by 39½"W.

What size sheets should I buy for my bed?

Approximately 10"

Can I use a bed riser in my room to raise the bed off the floor to gain storage space under the bed?
Yes.

What are the dimensions of the closets?
These vary by room, and are built into the walls. Generally, they will be 2’ deep, but the width varies.

What are the dimensions of the desks?
The desks are 36"W by 20"Deep by 30"H, with 1 drawer and 2 side shelves.

Can a computer monitor fit on the desk?
Yes, but the desks are relatively small.

What are the dimensions of the dressers?
The dressers are 32"W by 19"Deep by 42"H, with 5 drawers.

How many outlets are there?
In a double room, there are 6 sets of outlets.

Can I bring my own furniture and store the University furniture somewhere else in the hall?
No. If we let one person store the University furniture, then we would be obligated to let everyone do so. Unfortunately, we do not have enough storage space in our hall to accommodate everyone’s unwanted furniture.

Is my room carpeted?
No.

Are there shelves in the room? What are the dimensions of the shelves?
Yes, 30"W by 37 ½"H by 9½" deep, with 3 shelves.

What are the dimensions of my room?
Community has a number of different room types varying in shape, size, and whether they were designed for one person or two. All of the rooms have sinks. Here is a listing of the room types, dimensions, and window measurements. Windows are approximately 3’6" W by 5’ H, in rooms where no measurement has been taken.

Hall Facilities and Amenities

What amenities, such as pool tables, weight rooms, etc., does Community Hall have?
There is a bike room located in the basement for the storage of residents’ bikes throughout the academic year.

Where can I do my laundry? How much do the washers and dryers cost?
The laundry room is located in the basement. There are currently two washers and three dryers. The fees for laundry are included in housing and dining fees, so the use of these facilities are unlimited and require no additional cost.

How are the bathrooms arranged in Community Hall?
There are two bathrooms on each floor in Community. Each bathroom contains two stalls, one shower, and one bathtub. Residents are permitted to use any bathroom in the hall (not just the ones on their floor, which helps prevent lines for showers in the morning.

Are there study lounges in Community Hall?
Yes. The entire basement is a designated study area for residents. There is an additional study room adjacent to the laundry facilities where residents can study while doing their laundry. The first floor lobby is also a very accommodating study area.
