Wireless Ethernet

Look ma! No wires!
We are proud to announce that students living in Chief Joseph, Nez Perce, Chinook, and Columbia apartments now have access to the Internet via wireless Ethernet! This broadband connection allows students to access web-based content at speeds many times that of a conventional 56K dialup connection.

Please keep in mind that wireless Ethernet is for Chief Joseph, Nez Perce, Chinook, and Columbia apartments only.

Any wireless radios that are 802.11b & g or WiFi compliant will work on our network. However, First Step Internet (our network provider) will only provide installation technical support for Orinoco PCMCIA wireless radios (PC Card) and Orinoco USB radios. Students with other radios (ie - Apple Airport, Linksys, Belkin, D-Link, NetGear) will have limited installation technical support from First Step.

Usage of the wireless network will be subject to a $10.00 connect fee and a $18.95 charge per month per computer. The $18.95 fee will give you:

  • 2mbps/500k service
  • Up to 6 email addresses
  • 10 megs of personal webspace
  • Unlimited usage
  • 7 day a week technical support

For more information, please visit First Step Internet's WSU wireless website at www.firststepwireless.com/wsu, or call First Step Internet at 882-8869.
