Q: What is a hall government and what do they do?
A: Hall Government is the voice for the residents of Gannon-Goldsworthy.
Their goal is to serve you, while encouraging you to also get involved.
The primary goal of the GG government is to provide residents with
educational and social programming opportunities while fostering
student leadership.
Q: How and when is your hall government chosen?
A: Elections take place each fall during the third week of school.
Voting is done by a ballot system and candidates campaign for one
week. Returning exec board members are elected during the third
to last week of the spring semester.
Q: How can I get in contact with someone on your hall government?
A: You can contact an exec by emailing Michelle Noel.
Q: What activities does Gannon/Goldsworthy Hall have during the
year?
A:
- Very active in Homecoming, RHA Week, and Cougar Pride Days
- Multiple dances throughout the year
- Wacky Cash and Auction that goes year round
- Halloween Bash
- Halo Tournament and Games Night during Week of Welcome
- College of Engineering and Architecture programs every Tuesday night
- College of Science programs throughout the year
- Academic Advising in the Gannon lobby every Tuesday from 5-7pm
The hall also has tutoring as part of it’s Math, Science, and Engineering focus:
Sunday to Thursday 7:00 to 9:00pm Math/Physics/Chem Monday to Thursday 3:00 to 5:00pm Math Tutoring
Q: What government positions are available at the floor/house
level and how can I get involved?
A: We always have an open seat for Floor Presidents.
Q: What government positions are available at the hall level and
how can I get involved?
A: Applications for Government Exec Board positions are available
at the Gannon-Golds front desk. Exec positions include: President,
Vice President, Programming Chair, Facilities Coordinator, Public
Relations Chair, Secretary and RHA Rep.
Q: On what does the government spend my $25 each semester?
A: We give back to you by hosting all hall programs. We also try
to better the hall by purchasing new equipment for check out. A
portion of this money also goes back to your floor for floor programs
hosted by residents or your RA.
Q: What hall equipment items are available to check-out at the
front desk?
A: Pool Equipment, Air Hockey, Foosball, X-Box, kitchen equipment,
vacuums, a variety of board games and we also take recommendations
for new equipment!
Q: When do the hall and floor governments meet?
A: General Meetings at 6:00pm on Thursday's in the Conference Room located in the basement of Goldsworthy
Q: Does Gannon/Goldsworthy Hall provide any leadership training
for people interested in becoming involved?
A: Yes we do! All new exec go through a training as well as floor
presidents receive leadership training. You don't need to be a
leader to become a leader!
Q: I understand Gannon/Goldsworthy Hall receives funds to reduce
hall damages. Tell me more about the program and on what such money
can be spent.
A: For damages that occur in the hall we really try to hold the
individual(s) responsible for the cost associated with those damages.
If the responsible party can not be found, then hall damage funds
will be applied to those charges.
Q: How can I get on the move-in crew and help other residents
get settled into the hall at the beginning of the year?
A: Talk to your RED by calling and leaving a detailed message.
