Housing, Dining, and Residence life

Future Students

Welcome to Campus Life at Washington State University! As a future student, you no doubt have many questions. "Where do I live?" "Where can I eat?" "What is there to do on campus?" "Do I need to bring my car?" "How much will it cost to live in an apartment, residence hall, or Greek chapter?" You will find answers to these questions and many more right here!

If you're a freshman under the age of 20 (and you're not married), you'll be required to live on campus for at least a year. And that gives you a big advantage. Students living on campus achieve higher grades, complete more credit hours each semester, and enjoy more leadership opportunities--all thanks to the support of roommates, neighbors, and resident advisors. You'll have even more opportunity for community building with our new Freshman Focus program.

Freshman Focus

Freshman Focus is a living/learning opportunity for freshman students living in the residence halls. Freshman Focus encourages academic success, helps build community, and engages students in University life in meaningful ways. As you select your housing choice for your freshman year, you will be enrolled in a pair of Freshman Focus courses, described below, that are assigned to each residence hall. With your hall mates, you'll study together and forge friendships, easing your transition from home to university life and nurturing your academic success.

When choosing housing arrangements, the College of Engineering and Architecture and the College of Sciences strongly encourage incoming freshmen interested in science, engineering, and mathematics to sign up for Gannon-Goldsworthy Residence Hall as their living learning community.

Graduate, Married, and Transfer Students who wish to live on campus, have additional living options: apartments, residence Halls, or Greek chapters.

Post-doctorate researchers, visiting professors, new faculty and staff can request apartment housing within our family housing complexes. Assignments are made on a space available basis after all student demand has been met.

Post-doctorate researchers and visiting professors requiring short-term housing of 3 months or less have an additional option. Rooms may be rented in apartments that are shared by three or four individuals of the same gender. These apartments are fully furnished including dishes, cooking utensils, linens, and television and phone service. Each individual has their own bedroom - sharing common areas. Please contact Housing for current rates and availability.
